The floral pattern with small fruits and flowers is inspired by a spring garden. They made a lot of sketches by paying attention to the movement and arrangement of the leaves and branches so that the movement with a sense of rhythm like a spring plant can be seen. They are also conscious of how it looks when used repeatedly. The shape reminiscent of frills and lace, the three-dimensional relief creates shadows, and by further impressing the pattern, even a simple cake looks gorgeous.

About The Company
About Marumitsu
Founded in 1950, Marumitsu Poterie started as a local ceramic wholesaler. The idea of creating originally designed products came in 1985. Kenji Kato was visiting a Gifu’s potter when he saw “café au lait” bowls intended for exports to Europe and was told: “The French begin their day drinking ‘café au lait’ served in a bowl, dunking their baguette or croissants into it.”
At that time this kind of drinking culture wasn’t spreading yet in Japan and it left him fascinated and wanting to try this famous “café au lait with baguette”. He realized. “There is this kind of tableware which makes you want to eat some specific food, and drink some specific beverages. We will make this kind of tableware.” This was the starting point of our original brand Studio M’ and the concept “Meals are delightful”.
