Kyoto Takegami is a knife shop, established by Knife Master Koji Hirose. This authentic japanese knife shop offers the selection of Japanese and Western-styled knives for professional chefs, collectors, and cooking enthusiasts. All knives are made of high-quality material, perfectly aligned and sharpened.
Apart from selling the knives, the guests are invited to take part in the master classes to become kitchen knife coordinators. The role of a kitchen knife coordinator is to ensure a good connection between everyone who cooks and the kitchen materials. During these master classes, guests also get recommendations on how to choose kitchen knives .
Takegami has also prepared a lot of interesting materials about kitchen knives to share with those who would like to know more on the culture of kitchen knives. Even though we are living in an “over-consumption” society, Takegami thinks that the culture of kitchen knives allows people better understand authentic Japanese cuisine.
SERENDIPITY is a concept space in the Kyoto Takegami shop where people can cook and get a hands-on experience with various kitchen cookware and utensils. Takegami offers a wide range of cooking masterclasses and events, where guests learn to use correct kitchen knife’s techniques and cook beautiful and tasty dishes.
