Arluy became part of Biscuit International Group in 2018

Arluy S.L.U. is a Spanish company located at Arrubal (Spain), dedicated to the manufacturing, sale and distribution of biscuits and chocolate at a national and international level.

2009 was the turning point for the company, starting its expansion by buying the well-known brands Reglero and RIO to the multinational Grupo Siro.

Reglero is a brand created in the ’60s at an industrial level, but formerly very famous too in the confectionery and pastry shops of the Reglero family in Zamora or Valladolid.

On the other hand, Rio, of Valencian origin, is a brand related to snacks and breakfast products.

In 2011, Arluy continued its expansion in a complementary market as the chocolate sector, by buying to the multinational Grupo Natra the brand Zahor of chocolates that were founded in 1937.

Arluy became part of Biscuit International Group in Mid 2018. Biscuit International is the leading European manufacturer of private label sweet biscuits, with a wide range of products with a European or local presence – traditional biscuits, nutrition (organic, gluten-free, no added sugars, no palm oil, lactose-free…), waffles, etc. Here at Biscuit International, product innovation is at the heart of what Arluy does.

Biscuit International was created in 2016 as a result of the combination between Poult (the French leader) and Banketgroep (Netherlands). As the industry’s leading consolidation platform in Europe, the group acquired in 2018: A&W (Germany), Stroopwafel & Co (Netherlands), Northumbrian Fine Foods (United Kingdom), Arluy (Spain), and in 2019 Aviateur (Netherlands), to become the European leader in the Private Label sweet biscuits market. BI is owned by Qualium.

Arluy’s innovation policy grants a permanent development and launch 3 to 5 of new products every year

Arluy R & D department is in charge of researching new developments related to raw materials, packaging and product testing in order to reach the highest quality standards. Arluy’s quality lab and its R & D Department, not only ensure a high-quality standard of raw materials and manufactured products but also facilitates the characterization of multiple parameters related to the different developments achieved such as content determination In fats, mass behavior, etc.

Arluy’s R & D department has a large group of graduates who, together with the analysis and research department of processes, form the main group of product development. This working group, following the indications of the Marketing studies, has developed different commercial products according to the R & D policy of the company.

All these new developments are tested by Arluy potential customers, according to the target of the product, who is in charge of testing and evaluating the new products in a classroom created for that purpose. Through their considerations, Arluy can draw conclusions to decide whether a product may or may not be feasible, regardless of other factors.

Nutrition and Health

Responsible Packaging

Arluy is very committed to implementing responsible packaging in all products, with the aim of having the consumer perfectly informed. These products comply with the European Regulation 1169 / 2011 about information to the consumer: ingredients, allergens, nutritional information, etc.

The commitment is based on passing on the consumer all the information in a transparent and understandable way so that the consumer can choose the products that fit best to his needs.

Nutritional Information

The compulsory nutritional information must include in this order: energy value, fats, saturated fats, carbohydrates, sugars, proteins and salt. This information can be complemented with: monounsaturated fats, polyunsaturated fats, polyalcohols, starch, fiber, vitamins and minerals. The information must be expressed as per 100g. Additionally, it can be also expressed per serving, indicating the number of servings per pack and the number of biscuits per serving.

Arluy is committed to creating a healthy lifestyle, based on good nutrition and daily exercise

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), six of the seven major health determinants are related to physical activity and diet. These two activities are present throughout the life of every person and, as they are modifiable, how they are conducted will depend, on a large scale, on our future well-being.

Arluy is a pioneer in the substitution of animal fats for vegetable fats. In addition by replacing palm oil with healthier options such as high oleic sunflower oil, the Flora range or the B Live range, even if this is more expensive presents very important nutritional differences compared to other oils. High oleic sunflower oil is an oil with characteristics similar to olive oil. The main difference lies in the proportion of oleic acid. The properties of oleic acid concern the beneficial action with regard to our blood vessels and our heart because they increase the so-called “positive cholesterol” (HDL-c) of the blood.

The Importance of The Breakfast

A balanced breakfast is essential for school-age children as it contributes to a more harmonious calories distribution throughout the day and also brings many nutrients that are important during school time, significant growth time and development.

Breakfast brings you the energy you need to face a new day. Not having breakfast is associated with decreased physical activity. Breakfast should account for between 20% and 25% of the calories consumed throughout the day. To be balanced, the following food groups must be represented: dairy products (milk, yogurt, etc.), fruits and cereals (bread, toast, cereals, biscuits, etc.). Apart from these, other foods can also be included, such as derivatives of meat and sweet products, but in moderate quantities.

Arluy has been awarded the Safety Food Certifications IFS and BRC since 2010

Arluy is registered at the Food Drug Administration (FDA) for the American market, as well as associated to the Green Point since August 1997, by introducing EAN CODE and DUN14 in all products.
