Based in Melbourne, Australia, Maram designs and manufactures furniture that better integrates with our devices. Mesa 57 is a beautifully crafted solid wood desk made from solid Victorian Ash with fully integrated cable management that plugs in. It powers your devices, charges them wirelessly and controls your cables. A desk designed for the devices the user uses on it, minimising cable visibility without compromising on materials and aesthetics.

The inspiration was found by looking at owners’ cable clutter, dissatisfied with the lack of integrated solutions, as there was no desk that met all their needs. Maram [mah-rum], which means wood, saw the potential for a modern desk design that balanced form and function. With a background in engineering, a love of woodworking and design, and a lot of perseverance, Mesa 57 was built.
Each desk is hand finished in natural oils and buffed, so that the surface is smooth and has a subtle sheen. Crafted from the same piece of timber as the table top, the access hatch’s grain patterns flow seamlessly along the surface. This mid-century modern design brings sophistication to any interior.
Built-in Power Outlets and USB

Power outlets are built right into the desk accessible via a table top access flap so you do not have to disturb your setup in order to reach the power outlets, it is convenient and keeps your cables tidy. With up to 8 power outlets within reach, you will not have to search for outlets again.
Furthermore, there are 5 cable connections on the tray and you have the option to choose on which rear leg, left or right, the power cable should come out. A wireless charger is built into the desk in a way that does not interfere with the beautiful Vic Ash grain, and you can select 1 of 4 zones to locate it.
STRONGLY EQUIPPED

The magnetic hooks allow you to move them around and attach them to either side of the desk, as they are easily removable. You can hang items weighing up to 3.3 lbs (1.5 kg) on the standard magnetic hooks or on the Big Boi, which is a titanium double arm hook that is still magnetic, but can hang items weighing up to 6 kg (13.3 lbs). Moreover, powder coated steel brackets support the shelf and make it strong enough to hold multiple monitors.
sustainably grown timber

Australia is a national resource of naturally and sustainably grown timber. Eucalyptus Regnans and Eucalyptus Delegatensis, two similar and distinctly beautiful hardwood species, known as Vic Ash, are one of Australia’s trusted hardwoods it has been used for generations by builders, designers and architects for its stability, strength and beautiful grain patterns.
Mesa 57 comes in 2 colour options: Espresso with black compartment and black power board, the colour can be described as walnut, and Sand with white compartment and white power board. Since the desk is made from natural timber, grain and knot variations will occur, making each Mesa 57 unique.
CREATING CONSCIOUSLY

100% of the Vic Ash timber is responsibly comes from regrowth forests, which means that when a tree is cut down, a new one is planted. This allows to use a truly sustainable and renewable material.
This wood is also a natural material to offset carbon dioxide. Trees remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere throughout their lives and act as carbon stores. The carbon remains stored in the wood and when this wood is used to make the furniture, up to 50% of the weight of the furniture is offset in carbon in carbon. That’s about 17 kg of carbon offset per Mesa 57 desk.

To reduce the impact on the environment, the following things are done:
- Reduction of material waste and reuse scraps to make useful products.
- Paying attention to production methods and continuously improve them to save electricity when possible.
- Usage of local suppliers and manufacturers to reduce the impact of logistics.
The company’s Work Ethos states that a quality product requires a well thought out design and construction. So they create with this in mind at the drawing board, setting the foundation for innovative furniture, built with consistent high quality craftsmanship.
