UrbiPod is Australia’s smartest indoor garden from Urbotanica that takes the guesswork out of growing plants. With UrbiPod, anyone from experienced jungle gardeners to beginners can grow fresh herbs, lettuces, flowers, fruits and micro vegetables year-round.

Urbipod is beautifully designed to blend into the modern kitchen. The energy-efficient LED lighting is timed to accelerate the growing process up to three times faster than sunlight. And the lighting is extremely energy efficient – it uses about as much energy per year as your kettle or toaster. The portable, modern design allows mobility throughout the home. The clever watering and nutrient system delivers just the right amount of natural plant food.
The garden is equipped with a self-watering irrigation system that uses capillary or wicking action instead of pumps to draw water from the reservoir and water your plants for two to four weeks without supervision. The digital lighting and watering system collects data and keeps the plants alive.

Each growing Pod has its own water reservoir, so plants can survive up to three days outside the UrbiPod – allowing for additional pods and more growing options.
Urbipod comes with everything you need to start growing, so you do not have to buy anything else. The UrbiPod is made in Australia and gives back to the community by partnering with disability support provider Activ Foundation for product assembly.
key trends

Urbotanica™ journey began in Australia when the team recognised that a number of key trends presented an opportunity in urban communities around the world: Consumers wanted fresh, readily available food; concerns about food miles, the naturalness of our food, and food waste; a strong interest in cooking shows like MasterChef and MKR; a growing consumer interest in growing and preparing their own food in urban environments; children not knowing where food comes from or how it is grown. The team’s goal was to develop a easy growing solution that can work in all types of urban living environments and is easy to use.
Mindful Gardening

The benefits of gardening go far beyond yield, and it is well documented that gardening provides significant physical health benefits. Mindfulness is an important issue for each of us today, as stress and burnout become more and more of a problem.
When we think about what plants to place where, how best to care for them, how much water they need, how much sun they need, thoughts put us in the moment and help us activate our minds and our senses of smell, taste, touch, sight and sound. Planting seeds and helping them grow creates a connection between you and the plants that grow, and connects you to the things around you.
Gardening is also a great way to activate your critical thinking and problem solving skills. Often it can be frustrating when a plant does not grow the way you thought it would. But that’s the beauty and challenge of gardening: no two plants grow the same; conditions can not be replicated exactly. That’s what helps create a bond between us and what we grow, because it’s unique.
