Merging Art and Fashion
Yasuyuki Ishii is a modern Japanese designer brand that produces clothing and accessories for men and women. You will find a variety of one-of-a-kind designs, from t-shirts and outerwear to bags and accessories of high quality that will serve you for a long time. The products are made to order, which gives customers a sense of exclusivity.
Yasuyuki Ishii leads the way with his original and surreal designs, experimenting each time to breathe life into immovable objects. His designs are inspired by architecture and sculpture, merging art and fashion. The author wants the people who wear his clothes to feel dressed up. The result is a unique brand aesthetic that stands out from the norm and promotes individuality by going against convention.

Yasuyuki Ishii is not afraid of rough textures that most fashion designers would avoid, he sees this as an opportunity to create, moreover his works consist mainly of leather, hard fabrics and a dark colour palette. Attention to details, strict proportions and strengths – these are characteristics of his work that express a unique world view and cannot be seen anywhere else. At the same time, these designs bring together something futuristic and casual, innovative and practical clothing that allows customers to express themselves while staying comfortable.

What makes this effect possible is the ongoing consistency of different techniques, materials and specially modified tools for further personalization such as altered sewing machines, scissors and so on. While he integrates traditional crafts from different industries and borrows the buried excellent techniques, he is also innovative and follows new paths, processing his own ideas and demonstrating fantastic designs every season.

At his shop on the upscale streets of Tokyo’s Daikanyama area, you can discover Ishii’s apparel that combines the elegance of contemporary big-city fashion with the roughness of punk urban grunge.
As a result of Yasuyuki Ishii’s innovative approach and originality, his works have caused a stir abroad, making him sought after by celebrities, athletes and other public figures, and allowing him to showcase his collections at trade shows in Tokyo, Paris, Milan and Copenhagen.
From Object Artist To Fashion Designer

Yasuyuki Ishii started his career as an object artist in the 1980s and became engaged in fashion design and stage costumes as an extension of it in the second half of the 1990s.
Bold and unorthodox, inspired by designers who go beyond normal limits and try new and unexplored ideas, Ishii decided to find new means to express himself, which led him to enter the fashion world and open his brands – Yasuyuki Ishii For Men and Autre-Y for Women – and shortly after, a boutique.

“People abroad love examining historical sites and buildings, and then have deep conversations about them. I wanted to see if I could obtain that same reaction with clothes.”
